2026 Germany Tour Recap
September 20, 2026 - By Emma Spence - In a jet-setting finale to PACO’s fiftieth decade this past summer, members of Senior and Sinfonia orchestras took to the streets of central Europe in an effort to put PACO out into the world. From Germany to Czechia to Austria, the tour was full of rich history, classical and otherwise.
We visited Bach’s reconstructed home, historical castles, and even got the opportunity to perform in the church where Mozart and Haydn were married. With generations of the classical tradition built into the streets, it was clear why this location was chosen for such a momentous tour. While some of the exploration of the cities themselves had to be sacrificed due to the sweltering heatwave, each new city somehow hotter than the last, impromptu shopping detours (air conditioned malls) and modified tour routes were quickly put in order.
Though the tours and sightseeing were certainly a highlight of the experience, one thing I know I will never forget were the reflections made by members of the tour after concerts. It reminded me of how impactful music can be: in one concert, people can feel so many emotions and view the same piece in completely different lights. I remember looking around as we left the final concert and seeing my friends, some of them sobbing, some laughing and some simply staring back at the church, all of them carrying memories they will never forget.
From long nights laughing with my roommates, to running down the streets of Germany searching for doner kebab, to concerts in venues I could never have imagined, those ten days in Europe will remain indelible.
