Directed by Kris Yenney (PACO ’74), the Preparatory Orchestra further explores and develops fundamentals introduced in the SuperStrings ensemble. More challenging orchestral and ensemble repertoire is prepared for public performances through which the budding young artists further refine the process of creating chamber music together. One Winter concert and one Spring concert highlight the season, featuring orchestral and chamber works and live program notes presented by the musicians. Opportunities to perform community service at local venues supplement the season and add the important value of community service to each PACO member’s participation. More accomplished players are given leadership and solo parts and, with the occasional addition of wind and brass players, allow Preparatory Orchestra to peform a broad and varied repertoire.
